Students planning to attend UNL and have a STEM related major can apply for the Robert W. Brightfelt Triangle Fraternity Scholarship. Several scholarships will be awarded. The top scholarship will be $2000. You can fill out an application at www.triangleunl.org Scholarship deadline is June 15.
The Nebraska School Counselor Association will award three $500 scholarship to Nebraska high school seniors based on an essay. There is no GPA or test score requirement. You must plan to attend a college in Nebraska next year. The essay must illustrate how one particular counselor or counseling program has assisted you to plan/decide/grow in an area of your life. Essays are limited to 500 words and will be reviewed for content and grammar. Submission deadline is May 1. Millard United Sports will be awarding nine scholarships to alumni of the Kingswood, MAA, and MUS programs. You are eligible if you have a 3.0 GPA, played for three years in baseball, football, or wrestling. To apply go to their website: millardunited.com You need to complete an essay, obtain two letters of recommendation, and submit your transcript. The Monsignor Andrew Meister Freshman Scholarship for Nebraska Catholic High School Students is for $2500 and students who plan to attend UNL and UNK are eligible to apply. Information on how to apply is available at http://nebraskadelts.com/membership/scholarships/.

Donate Life Nebraska is offering one $1000 scholarship in memory of Michael Peters ’14. You must have a GPA of 2.5 and write a persuasive essay that will inspire and motivate the audience to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors. The ICON Foundation Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for individuals who self-identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered or as children of gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered persons. At least one scholarship will be awarded in each category. Criteria: Community service and involvement, three letters of recommendation (one from a person who self-identifies as GLBT), financial need. Application deadline is May 15. Applications are available in the counseling center.
The Norden Club Foundation awards $1000 scholarships to those who wish to pursue an educational experience or project pertaining to any of the five Scandinavian countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Classroom courses and study abroad would be included in this heading. Applications are due by May 1. See Fr. Tillman for an application.
The Engineers Club of Omaha will award $500 scholarships to area seniors who plan to study engineering at a Nebraska College. Applications are available in the counseling center. Applications must be received by April 1.
Students with at least a 3.0 GPA and who have been involved in community service activities and school activities are eligible to compete for a $500 Nebraska Community Service Award for males sponsored by the Miss Nebraska Scholarship Program. Application deadline is March 21.
The Engebretson Foundation scholarship is based on financial need, a GPA of at least 3.75, an ACT of 28, leadership potential, work experience, extracurricular activities, and community service. Applications with an EFC exceeding $10,000 will not be considered. The scholarship is worth from $5000 - $10,000 based on tuition cost. To apply go to http://www.engebretsonfoundation.org. The Omaha Legal Professionals Association is offering a $500 scholarship to students entering the legal profession or criminal justice field. GPA of 2.5 or higher is required. The deadline is March 17. Applications available in the counseling center.
The Nebraska Legal Professionals Association is offering two scholarships of $1000 and $500 to students entering the legal profession, pre-law or criminal justice field. The deadline is March 31. Applications available in the counseling center.
Anyone intending to major in Nursing in College in Nebraska with at least a 3.0 GPA is eligible for the $1200 Sertoma Club of Omaha Nursing Scholarship. Application deadline is April 1. Application information available in the counseling center. Basis of award is essay and volunteer and/or service work. No transcript or test scores are requested.
The Pink Bandana Scholarship will be awarded to students who have battled breast cancer or have watched a parent or sibling fight breast cancer. This scholarship is worth $1000 a year not to exceed $4000. Applications are available in the counseling center. Application must be received by April 1.
Johnny Baxter Carriage House Foundation is awarding a $1500 scholarship to someone wishing to attend a community college and pursue training for an automotive career. Application deadline is Apr 7. See Fr. Tillman for more information and an application.
Several students will be selected for a D.J.’s Hero Award worth $10,000. This scholarship recognizes those who have overcome challenges and shown a commitment to others and to the community. Applicants must obtain a letter of nomination from someone familiar with their leadership as a positive role model, their commitment to others and the community, their courage to act independently, their enthusiasm for life, and their humility. You must also write an essay. All entries must be postmarked by March 6. Test scores and grades are not a criterion. Applications available in the counseling center or at SalArmyOmaha.org
The Keystone Community Task Force is offering a scholarship to a senior who is going on to college who has lived in the Keystone area for the past five years. An emphasis will be placed on service that includes scouting, care giving, and community service. An additional scholarship may be awarded to a student who is going to a non-traditional college. Deadline is March 15. The boundaries for Keystone are 72nd to 90th street, Maple Street to Fort Street. Scholarship application available in the counseling center.
The McAleer/Pierce Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to one graduating senior with a permanent disability or who has a parent with a permanent disability. Financial need is a factor. 250-word essay required. March 1 is the deadline. Application available in the counseling center.
MCSF scholarships are for children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen pursuing a post-secondary education at any accredited school—whether that be a career training, trade school, community college, or four-year university. The Missouri Valley Professional Society offers scholarships to students with excellent academic performance, involvement in a variety of activities in school and in the community, and has demonstrated leadership abilities. You must enroll in a Nebraska college. You should also have definite career goals. You will need to write an essay not to exceed 250 words on your most significant achievement. Kids Chance of Nebraska offers scholarships to residents of the state of Nebraska who have a custodial parent, step-parent or legal guardian who has been killed or sustained injuries in a work-related accident that has been documented and accepted as compensable by the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Court. Scholarship deadline is April 15. Contact Fr. Tillman to email you the application.
Preventing Childhood Obesity Community Scholarships are for seniors in the Omaha Metro area pursuing a career related to health or wellness (nurse, dietitian, health teacher, physical therapist) with an exclusive or significant focus on children or adolescents. You must submit a personal essay regarding how you will make a difference in the fight against childhood obesity through your college education and future career. You must also submit a letter of support from and adult who can advocate for you commitment to a career in health and wellness. Five scholarships will be awarded. Scholarships are renewable. The Better Business Bureau is awarding three $2000 Scott Mecham Student of Integrity Awards to high school juniors or seniors who reside in Metro Omaha or Southwest Iowa. These scholarships are not based on ethnicity, financial need, or GPA. They are awarded to students who exemplify ethical behavior and personal integrity and who demonstrate humility, courage, compassion, and respect for their peers, teachers, and community. The Theatre Arts Guild of Omaha will be awarding two scholarships of $1000. You are eligible if you plan to study acting, dance, voice, direction, design, broadcasting, theatre management, or technical theatre in college or at an approved school of drama. The Eastern Nebraska/Western Iowa Car Council will award four $300 scholarships to areas students planning to enroll in an automotive technology program or study for the automotive industry. Applications are available in the counseling center. Application deadline is April 15.
Nebraska State Historical Society Scholarship. Write an original 1-2 page essay based on your interview with a WWII veteran or his/her immediate family member regarding the significance of WWII events to them or their community. Write a cover letter to tell the committee about yourself, your family and your goals, and your plans to further your education and your family who served in WWII or the US Military. 2-page maximum. Provide a Resume and two reference letters--one from a teacher and one from someone other than a relative. Submit to Fr. Tillman by January 27. There will be four $1000 winners selected in Nebraska and four $250 winners. You must have a GPA of at least 3.75.
The Westside Kiwanis Club awards scholarships of $500 - $1000 to seniors based on past community service, financial need, and grades. Application deadline is March 3. An application can be picked up in the counseling center.
If you have applied to a Catholic College and still considering attending a Catholic College you can apply for The National CCAA Scholarship. It is a one-time, $1,000 award. There is no GPA or test score requirement. The application is brief and will take students a few minutes to complete. The Nebraska Coaches Association will give eight awards sponsored by the Country Inns and Suites to scholar/athletes. You must have at least a 3.75 GPA, participate in 2 sports for 2 years each, earned a varsity letter in two sports, and have at least a 24 ACT. The Great Plains Association for College Admission Counseling will award one Nebraska student a $1000 scholarship. Your highest ACT score must be between 21-28 and you must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The Paul Max scholarship for service is awarded by the Great Plains Association for College Admission Counseling. If you have done lots of service hours since August 1, 2014 and your service has impacted you and your leadership perspective and you have a GPA between 2.75 and 3.5 you are eligible for this scholarship. The Nebraska Press Association will be awarding $2000 scholarships to graduating seniors planning to enroll in a college program in Nebraska leading to a career in print journalism. Two Independent Insurance Agents of Nebraska Foundation Memorial Scholarships are available for $1000 each. Basis of selection is scholastic application, participation and leadership in school, community activities, and your educational goals. You must plan to major in business. Sanford Health Network is offering a $2500 scholarship for high school students who develop a plan to attract more students into health careers in rural settings. The Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers will award two $1500 scholarship to applicants who plan to enroll in an accredited engineering program in the state of Nebraska and the Eastern Chapter will award two $1000 scholarships that can be used at any accredited engineering curriculum in Nebraska. You must have GPA of at least 3.5 and Math ACT score of 29 and English score of 25 or SAT Math of 600 and Verbal 500. Selection is based on GPA, teacher recommendations, Essay, Activities and Work Experience, need, and Test scores. Application deadline is February 1. Applications available in the counseling center.
The National Society of Professional Engineers awards scholarships to promote diversity in engineering if you are from an ethnic minority. This scholarship can be used at any college. More information and deadline information (March 1) on this scholarship at www.nspe.org
The Suburban Rotary Club of Omaha awards 10 scholarships of $2500 to seniors with disabilities who are going to college. Disabilities include hearing impaired, orthopedically impaired, visually impaired, those with specific learning disability, or speech-language impaired. Applications are now available online for The Metropolitan Community College Board of Governors Scholarship. It is a full tuition scholarship. To be eligible a student must have a GPA of 2.75. Bellevue University awards the Freshman Academic Achievement Scholarship to graduating seniors with a GPA of 3.0-4.0, The scholarship ranges from $2000 - $8000 based on your GPA. Yearly tuition at Bellevue University is $8000.
GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program offers scholarships to seniors who demonstrate at school, in the workplace, and in the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have financial need. CHI Health will award 12 $1500 scholarships to seniors preparing for health care careers. AkSarBen-Horatio Alger Career Scholarship is available for a senior planning to attend Metro Community College and pursuing study in a high skill/high demand occupation such as health care, information technology, manufacturing, welding, electrical, auto mechanics, culinary arts, or other skilled trades. You must have financial need. You must complete FAFSA by February 1 and complete the scholarship application by March 1. Inform your counselor immediately if you are eligible for this scholarship.
The Nebraska Association for the Gifted will be awarding one scholarship of $1000 to a Nebraska senior. The scholarship is called the Leta Hollingworth Scholarship. Criteria are distinguishing yourself through outstanding achievement, accomplishment, or unusual ability. Deadline for application is January 15. Application form available in the counseling center.
Excel Physical Therapy will award five $1000 scholarships to students that demonstrate a sincere interest in pursuing a career in physical therapy. You must have a GPA of 3.5 and be involved in a school sponsored extra-curricular activity. Applications are available in the counseling center. Application deadline is February 20.
Miami University (OH) offers full-tuition and half-tuition scholarships based on rigorous coursework, a GPA of at least 3.5 and an ACT of 33. Miami does superscore the ACT. Other scholarship awards available for lower ACT scores. Priority application deadline is December 1.
The University of Michigan will award 12 Geisinger Scholarships to non-Michigan resident students who declare as an Engineering major. The scholarships are worth $20,000 per year. The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program at The University of Texas at Dallas is one of the nation’s most generous and selective undergraduate merit awards.Valued at more than $250,000 (out of state) the scholarship includes tuition, stipend, study abroad and professional development funding. Students may apply for the Cricket Student of the Month award. Nine students will be chosen throughout the year with each winning a gift package. Board of Trustees Scholarships are available at Chadron State, Wayne State , and Peru State. You must be admitted by January 15. Students must have an ACT of 25. These are full-tuition scholarships. At Wayne Statae and Chadron state you must complete the respective scholarship application at the sites listed for Governor’s Opportunity Award below .

The Susan Thompson Buffet Foundation provides scholarships for tuition and fees up to $3750 per semester and a textbook allowance of $500 per semester for students attending Nebraska public universities, colleges, or community colleges. All applications must be completed by February 1, 2017. To be eligible you must show that you need financial assistance to attend college and have at least a 2.5 high school GPA. The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (Omaha Chapter) is awarding 5 scholarships to area high school students of Douglas, Sarpy, Washington, or Cass Counties. Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky awards a 50% tuition discount to anyone graduating from a private Catholic high school.
St. Louis University awards the Martin Luther King Scholarship to students who are committed to the promotion of diversity in our society and who demonstrate leadership in the classroom, on campus, and in the greater community. This is a $3000 per year scholarship in addition to whatever scholarship money you may have already been awarded by St. Louis University. You need to have a minimum 3.25 GPA. Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarships reward 500 high school seniors with scholarships ranging from $4000 to $50,000. Criteria are financial need, leadership, and scholarship. For an application and more information go to www.enf.elks.org/mvs Application deadline is November 30.

WACE is sponsoring a Scholarship Program and will award 175 $6000 scholarships to students planning on participating in cooperative education at Drexel, Johnson and Wales, University of Cincinnati, Clarkson, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Massachusetts Lowell, Merrimack College, Wentworth Institute of Technology, State University of New York Oswego, or University of Toledo . Five Catholic High School Seniors will receive $1000 scholarships for their winning essays in the Fireside Essay Scholarship Contest. Essays must be limited to 750 words. Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts awards every accepted Prep graduate a $2500 per year scholarship in addition to whatever other merit scholarship they qualify for. Your tuition will also not increase during your four years at Assumption.

Presentation College In Aberdeen, SD awards every Catholic high school graduate with a 3.0 GPA an extra $4000 in scholarship money.
Nebraska Wesleyan offers 50 full-tuition scholarships to Nebraskans with ACT above 25, a GPA 3.0 or above, and an EFC below $1000.
Nebraska Wesleyan offers a $12,000 scholarship to any students with a GPA 3.5 or higher regardless of ACT score.
Truman State awards many scholarships ranging from $2324 to full-tuition board and room. There are 12 Pershing Scholarships for full-tuition, room and board. Students need high ACT scores and a GPA of at least 3.97 for the Pershing Scholarships. Priority application deadline is December 1.
Profile in Courage Essay Contest will award $20,000 as first place award and six runner-up awards. Write an original and creative essay describing an act of political courage by a U>S> elected official who served during or after 1917, the year of JFK’s birth. Students are encouraged to choose an original subject and tell a story that has not yet been told. Essays must be 700-1000 words with a bibliography of at least five reliable sources. The Hays Memorial Scholarship is offered by Hendrix College. It is awarded to four deserving freshmen. It is full-tuition, room, board, and fees. You must have an ACT of at least 32 or SAT score of 1410. Apply ideally by November 15 but no late than February 1. Have your counselor fill out the nomination form.

If you have started your own business or shown entrepreneurial spirit you are eligible to compete for a Young Entrepreneur Award. Scholarships range from $2000 to $15,000. There will be 100 awards. The Scott Scholarship at the Peter Kiewit Institute at UNO is open to students with a 30 ACT and at least a 3.5 GPA. Students must also be pursuing an engineering degree or technology related program in the Peter Kiewit Institute. Application deadline is December 15 on the pki website.

Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY sponsors the Martin Luther King Scholar Program. 15 entering first-year students from traditionally underrepresented populations are selected every year for the program. Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY sponsors the Park Scholars Program. 10 entering first-year students are selected every year for the program. The Scholarship covers full-tuition, room, and board. The scholarship is offered to academically exceptional students who have demonstrated deep commitment to service and leadership in their communities. A separate application is required. Goodrich Scholarship Applications are available for the University of Nebraska at Omaha. These are full-tuition scholarships. Students of all academic levels are selected. This scholarship is based on financial need and the willingness to take one specific course in English and several specified social studies courses. Deadline for application is March 1.
