Instructional
Program: The library program is based on ALA (American
Library Association) and AECT (Association
for Educational Communications and Technology) Nine
Information Literacy Standards for Student Learning.
Freshman entering Prep will go through library orientation
within the Freshmen Advising program. Throughout the
year all freshmen will be involved in an integrated
library course of instruction partnering with English and
World History classes. One section of the course will be
on the (Ignation
process of research) based on the IPP.
Also included in the course is a session on evaluating
free web sites. A final part of the
course involves instruction on how to use Prep's
subscription services databases.
Sophomore, junior, and senior students will develop
applied research skills in various subject disciplines
working collaboratively with teachers and library faculty.
Mission Statement: The
mission of the library is to be an integral part of the
educational program in the Jesuit tradition, fostering
literacy and empowering students to become effective users
of ideas and information.
